The 55th Annual Maui Marathon is set to make a triumphant return to West Maui on Sunday, April 27, 2025, featuring new race routes that showcase the island’s stunning coastal scenery. This year, the full marathon, half marathon, and 10K races will follow an out-and-back course along the Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30), offering participants breathtaking ocean views and a fast, flat terrain ideal for personal bests and Boston Marathon qualification.
The full marathon will commence at 5 a.m. from the Outrigger Kāʻanapali Beach Resort, serving as both the start and finish line. Runners will proceed along the coastline, turning around near Pāpalaua Wayside State Park. The half marathon shares the same start and finish points, with its turnaround just past Launiupoko Park. To ensure safety, these sections of the course will be closed to traffic during the event. The 10K race starts at 5:45 a.m., and the 5K, which remains unchanged from previous years, begins at 5:55 a.m., both launching from the Outrigger Kāʻanapali Beach Resort.
Race director Jim Lynch expressed enthusiasm about the marathon’s return to Kāʻanapali, highlighting its significance in the island’s healing process following the tragic Lahaina and Kula wildfires. He emphasized that bringing the event back to the west side aims to restore a sense of normalcy and community spirit.
For participants, parking will be available at the Lahaina Civic Center parking lot, with shuttles transporting runners to and from the start and finish lines. Additionally, the Westin Maui Resort and Spa will host a two-day expo on April 25 and 26, offering race-related activities and information.
