Have You Seen Seafood City ?

August 30, 2024

Seafood City on Maui is a renowned market and grocery store located in Kahului, catering to the island’s diverse community with a wide array of fresh seafood, Filipino goods, and Asian specialty items. A popular destination for locals and visitors alike, Seafood City is part of a larger chain known for its focus on Filipino culture and cuisine, though its offerings appeal to anyone seeking fresh and authentic Asian ingredients.

The store is best known for its extensive selection of fresh seafood, including fish, shrimp, crabs, and other shellfish, often sourced locally to ensure quality and freshness. The market section is a highlight, where customers can find everything from whole fish to ready-to-cook fillets, as well as a variety of frozen seafood options. The knowledgeable staff is always on hand to offer advice on selecting and preparing the perfect seafood dish.

In addition to seafood, Seafood City boasts a large grocery section filled with Filipino and Asian staples, making it a go-to spot for those looking to prepare traditional dishes from these cultures. The aisles are stocked with items like rice, noodles, sauces, spices, and snacks that are often hard to find elsewhere on the island. The produce section features a variety of Asian vegetables and fruits, adding to the store’s appeal for those seeking authentic ingredients.

One of the unique aspects of Seafood City is its turo-turo (point-point) dining area, where customers can choose from a range of ready-to-eat Filipino dishes. This section is particularly popular during lunch hours, offering a quick and delicious option for those craving Filipino comfort food, such as adobo, lechon, and lumpia.

Overall, Seafood City is more than just a grocery store; it’s a cultural hub that brings the flavors of the Philippines and Asia to Maui, offering a comprehensive shopping experience for those in search of fresh seafood and authentic Asian ingredients.

Seafood City Market is in the old Lowe’s location on Dairy Rd. Since the airport bi-pass road opened, Maui Marketplace has lost many merchants. Hopefully, with Seafood City and Jollibee (which traditionally is inside of Seafood City) this shopping center will come back to life again.
