Aloha! Make your Maui adventure even more meaningful by joining a Friends of Haleakalā National Park service trip from Friday–Sunday, August 8 to 10, 2025, in the lush Kīpahulu District. This is a unique opportunity to help preserve one of Hawai‘i’s most precious natural and cultural treasures, while enjoying easy access—no backpacking required!
Volunteers drive directly to the Kīpahulu campground and stay in the shared bunkhouse, cooking and sharing meals together as a team. Under the guidance of National Park Service staff, participants assist with practical conservation tasks such as greenhouse cleanup, invasive plant removal, native habitat restoration, and restoring traditional loʻi terraces along the Pīpīwai Trail. It’s also a chance to learn about local ecosystems and Hawaiian history in one of Maui’s most beautiful regions.
At Kihei Rent A Car, we’re proud to support environmentally conscious travelers. Let us set you up with a comfortable vehicle so you can reach the trip starting point with ease. Whether you’re staying upcountry or in South Maui, a reliable rental car ensures you’re ready for this fun, fulfilling weekend project.
