Looking for something fun and local to do on Maui this weekend? Take a drive Upcountry for the 41st Annual St. John’s Kula Festival, happening Saturday, September 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in beautiful Kēōkea.
This longtime Maui tradition brings together food, music, hula, local crafts and plenty of Upcountry community spirit for a full day of fun.
Throughout the day, enjoy live entertainment including the Isle of Maui Pipe Band, Hālau Hula Wehena o ke Ao, Benny Uyetake, Steve Grimes, Soul Kitchen and more.
Come hungry! The festival will feature plenty of ono local food and baked goods, along with fresh produce, flowers and plants. You can also browse local craft and vendor booths, visit the quilt show, check out the silent auction and let the keiki enjoy family-friendly activities.
Best of all, admission is free!
The festival began in 1982 and has grown into a beloved Upcountry Maui tradition. Proceeds help support St. John’s community ministries, including its weekly food pantry and monthly community dinner, with a portion also benefiting Mālama Kula this year.
The festival is also a Zero Waste Event, so bring your reusable water bottle and shopping bag.
If you’re staying in Kīhei or elsewhere in South Maui, this is a great excuse to hop in your rental car and spend a day exploring Upcountry. Enjoy the cooler air, beautiful views and small-town charm of Kula and Kēōkea while experiencing a Maui community tradition that has been bringing people together for more than four decades.
