Whale season is returning to Maui, and if you’re visiting us at Kihei Rent A Car, you’re arriving at one of the most magical times of the year. From December through spring, our island becomes a nursery for thousands of humpback whales — especially the newborn calves learning to navigate life in the warm, protected waters off Maui.
To help you get even more out of your whale-watching adventures, the Maui Nui Marine Resource Council is hosting a free webinar on December 10 called “Early Days: The Life and Times of Humpback Whale Calves in Hawaiian Waters.” Led by researchers from the Keiki Kohola Project, this session explores how calves grow, rest, nurse, and play during their earliest days. You’ll also hear about ongoing research on how environmental changes may be affecting their nursery grounds.

This is a perfect way to deepen your appreciation before you hit the road in your rental car to search for spouts and breaches. Many great viewing spots — including Kīhei, Wailea, and Māʻalaea — are just minutes away from our lot.
Registration for the talk is free and can be completed online at https://bit.ly/44bRJ2V.
